Minecraft continues to flourish, selling more than 5 million copies to date. Unsurprisingly, many of Minecraft's dedicated fans have taken to modding the game and creating custom maps, sharing them on various forums and websites. We've rounded up a few of our favorites, posting them here with descriptions, a video, as well as a link to download them for yourself.
[1.8.9] Default World Generator Mod Download Default World Generator Mod is a mod designed for Minecraft ModPack makers who want to have a specific world generator selected by default. The user is still able to change it if they desire, but it will change it from “default” to what eve. Jonha made all those awesome new sliders so, in order for them to work properly, he also made a max slider increase mod. It’s on the download section of that page. I assume he keeps it up to date, since it’s required in order to use his 10 sliders. AwesomeMod is a core mod for The Sims 3. It is created and maintained by J. Pescado and 'Doctor Boris', and is hosted at the More Awesome Than You forum. It was launched on June 4, 2009 for The Sims 3 base game.
Plants+vs.+Zombies
Minecraft inspires creativity, and sometimes that leads people to remake their favorite games within the confines of Mojang's boxy world. Thus we get this Plants vs. Zombies map, complete with flowers that fire arrows at waves of zombies. Kill enough zombies and you can gather up the money they drop, investing it in upgraded flowers and TNT landmines. You lose once enough zombies make it through to your house.

Bomberman+Map
The Bomberman gameplay formula has sustained the franchise for years and years. Though this Minecraft map isnt quite as detailed or complex as the actual game, it's nonetheless a cool take on the series. Blow up blocks of sand and avoid zombies in an effort to find and relocate a red stone torch. Placing the torch in the proper spot opens up the next level, with a total of eight levels included. Disappointingly, there's no competitive multiplayer, but hey, you could always mod it in.

Battletowers+Mod
If you want a bit more adventure out of your Minecraft world, then you should check out Battletowers. This updated version includes even more towers than the original mod, but the crux remains the same: towers are randomly spawned in your world, and your only goal is to scale them, slay the monsters inside and collect the treasure.

Mice+Workers
In Minecraft you essentially control your own kingdom; you are the master of your surroundings. But what King would disgrace himself by doing all his own work?
Enter Mice Workers, a mod that allows you to create a special device that creates NPCs. You can outfit these NPCs with tools, then watch as they toil away in the creation of mines or the clearing a forest.

Ghost in the Skyrim - Great site, a little hard to find some things. Oh and use Chrome's translator. The Holds of Skyrim - this one has some stuff. Not as much as the others though. Some of these sites will link back to Nexus for a few files. Most use various sites such as Rapidshare.
