Ham & Amateur Radio Transceivers

Ham radio transceivers are available in a variety of styles by a number of different brands. Yaesu, Icom, Kenwood, and many other companies build base station gadgets, units for vehicles, and portable products. Most ham radios are designed with special hardware that can reach high frequencies.

You will find the model number on a sticker or rating plate. This can usually be found either on or behind the door frame, or behind the filter flap at the bottom of the appliance. Model numbers usually consist of a manner of letters and numbers, and may also include characters such as a slash (/) or a dash (-). The Serial Number is XXXXX on the Label of the Unit Remove the Unit from the dash. If you need further, please post Year of Tahoe? Your DEPOSIT is not payment. What are the design elements for different ham radio options?

A base station has a sturdy base that must be placed on a flat surface. These are suitable for both residential or commercial locations. Mobile units for automobiles are compact and are specifically designed for a car or truck cabin. Portable, hand-held gadgets have a convenient strap and are suitable for mobile situations in residential, commercial, or wilderness environments.

What features are included with an ICOM IC-756PRO transceiver?

This portable unit is a practical option for wilderness zones. The LED indicator light can alert you to situations that can gradually drain the battery. The antenna on the base helps the radio generate crisp, bold sounds.

Are there advanced ham radio options for automobiles?

ICOM IC-756PRO transceivers are designed with hardware that produces 100 watts. Many special features that rely on the 100-watt hardware are included with this advanced transceiver such as a voice keyer and a noise blanker component. A built-in antenna tuner helps insure that radio frequencies are always strong when the advanced features are used.

TYT TH-9800 Plus transceivers are suitable for advanced situations because they're built with quad-band technology. These units are designed in China, and the technology that powers the frequency hardware can capture 29, 50, 144 and 430MHz frequencies. The frequencies for the FM and AM components have 108-180MHz, 750-950MHz, 320-512MHz, 26-33MHz, and 47-57MHz specs.

Looking at maybe picking up a used TS-2000 if I can find one. It will be replacing my TS-711 (2m all-mode) and TS-690 (6m).

The thing is, they've been making them for about 15 years. I know you can update the firmware, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any hardware changes in more recent years that would make it worth holding out for a newer model over getting an older one.

I already know to avoid the 2001/2002 era models due to the bad filters.

Anyone know of other changes to be aware of? Thanks!
