Ashta Chamma is a 30-minute daily Telugu soap opera, broadcasting at 8:00 to 8:30 P.M. The show was under the direction of Gopi Kasireddy with actors, Sushasini as Jyothi, Ravikiran as Sarath, Chitra Roy as Swapna and more. Ashta Chamma is a story of 2 girls Jyothi and Swapna and how their lives change forever when Swapna takes on the the identity of Jyothi as she wants to live a lavish and luxurious life.

MAA Television Network was founded in 2001 as a corporate entity, while its main TV channel, MAA TV, was launched in 2002. The company's second channel, MAA Music, was launched in 2008.
In February 2015, Star India acquired MAA Television Network for ₹2,500 crore (US$360 million).[5][6]
In 2017, Maa TV was rebranded as Star Maa with a new logo.[7]
In June 2017, Star Maa rebranded its graphical package.[8]
