TL;DR: How can I optimize my Atheros AR9380 for Windows 10?#

Details:

Hello blessed tech supporters of Reddit - after breaking down and spending ~50 fruitless minutes on the phone with Microsoft support, I come to you with a broken soul and heavy heart but strong will to push on. I find myself to be overall tech-savvy but I may have exhausted my abilities in solving this issue.

I am running the latest version of Windows 10 and have been experiencing intermittent internet connection problems for about as long as I've had Windows 10. I have the TP-Link N900/TL-WDN4800 with Atheros AR9380 chip installed in my desktop PC as I have no way to connect to ethernet from the room my PC is located in.

There have been periods of time where my internet connection has been more than adequate, providing 10mbps+ DL speeds, but more often than not I experience ~2mbps or even worse sluggish <1mbps speeds/no internet at all (but always with 'secured, no internet' or 'unidentified network, no internet' - the yellow triangle of death).

I have 50mbps internet service and a quality 3rd-party modem and router that provide excellent wifi to EVERY other device in my home - I currently have 22mbps+ on my 3 year old iPad but only ~2mbps on my ~$2k powerhouse desktop PC!

That being said, I am ecstatic to have located some AR9380 drivers that seem to provide a steady (albeit slow) internet connection (going on ~45 minutes without issue...). My upload speeds are almost always much greater than my download speeds (>33%).

I am hoping someone might be able to direct me (and everyone else in my position now/in the future) towards a solution that can maintain a steady & at least decent internet connection with Windows 10 and TP-Link N900 / TL-WDN4800 / Atheros AR9380 wireless card.

Someone on Amazon said 'If TP-Link drivers aren't working or aren't getting the speeds you want, try Broadcom BCM-43XX drivers (the chip this card uses)'. I have tried installing 2 Broadcom drivers but have had no wifi.

Thank you so much for any help you can possibly provide!
